OVERVIEW
Bucaramanga, is Santander State capitol, placed at Colombian North West, by plane is about 45 minutes away from Bogotá. Bucaramanga, has an strategic position in Colombia’s center near to Venezuela’s Frontier and close to the main Colombian Caribbean marine ports (Santa Marta, Barranquilla y Cartagena). PARKS
Bucaramanga is nationally Known as the “City of Parks”, due to the great number of these recreation places that brings beauty and also have historic meaning.
The next list has the most representative parks and a brief historic review of them:
García Rovira Park:
Placed downtown owes its name to an independence hero, placed to each side of it there is Santander’s Govern Building, Mayor’s Building, San Laureano’s Parrish, Los Dolores chapel and Luis Carlos Galán Civic square.
AIRPORT
This is a brief review of some other important places in the city, where occurs a different kind of activities such as transport, recreation and business.
Palonegro International Airport
Built outskirts of the city in the early 70’s decade, it replaced Atonio Gómez Niño Airport, that was placed downtown in la ciudadela Real de Minas.
PRINCIPAL CHURCHES
Bucaramanga city, as the rest of the Country, mostly profess Catholicism, the next is a list of the principal City Temples, standing out by the historic and architectural point of view.
San Laureano’s Church
Is one of the older churches in the city, it’s baptism books dates since 1774, that means 4 years before the Bucaramanga’s Parrish raise. Placed in the 12th AVE with 37thST on one side of Garcia Rovira’s Park. It’s construction shows typical characteristics of the XIX century
CULTURAL PLACES
Bucaramanga City has always been distinguished by It’s great cultural activity, expressed in Libraries, Museums, Culture promotion centers.
Culture Municipal Center
It is the old named Gabriel Turbay Public Library. Under the Mayor Dr. Manuel Cote Peña Administration, was taken the decision of turn it into the Institute, with the goal to extend the possibilities of patronize the culture in the city Metropolitan area.
